The Houses of Parliament, also known as the Palace of Westminster, is not only the home of the UK Parliament, it is also a royal palace and former residence of great kings.

This impressive Gothic Palace was built in the late 19th Century by Sir Charles Barry to replace the original ancient buildings, which were almost completely destroyed by fire in 1834.
