This Bill was presented, through the ballot procedure, to Parliament on 21 January. This is known as First Reading and there was no debate on the Bill at this stage.

This Bill was on the Order Paper for a Second Reading debate on 3 July.  After being debated the sponsoring Member withdrew the Bill from further consideration. The Bill will not progress any further.

 

Summary of the Bill

This Bill makes provision for the establishment of a carbon emissions performance standard for electricity generators. It would require the Secretary of State to set a standard for generators after consultation and would prohibit new entrants who did not meet the standard.
