Summary of the Bill

Environmental Protection (Airports) Bill

The aim of this Bill is to promote the protection of the environment near airports. It would establish the Airport Environment Watchdog, which would have powers to:

  • monitor the environmental impact of airports and to report levels of pollution
  • recommend courses of action to individual airports
  • impose fines if recommendations were unreasonably ignored.
